Afternoon Hand Building Camp

Weekly Camp

Join the fun this summer at our studio for weeklong clay camps, for kids and youth entering 4th - 8th grades.

Campers expand their imaginations and explore the exciting world of clay. Whether working with sculpture or hand build pieces, students learn in a supportive and small class setting with plenty of individual instruction and inspiration from our professional teaching artists.

Every Friday parents and campers celebrate with an exhibition of works in progress and an ice cream party.

What you’ll learn:

The process of making a ceramic piece on by hand and foundational skills needed to make any hand built project

  • Pinching, coiling & slab techniques
  • Surface decoration
  • How to make functional pottery such as mugs, bowls and vases
  • Clay animals and monsters and other artistic hand built pieces

Duration:

  • 1:00pm- 4:00pm
  • Each Class Session is 3 hours

Experience & Requirements:

  • No experience necessary
  • Entering 4 th – 8 th grade

Drop Off & Pickup Times

Drop off between 12:45- 1:00pm / Pick up between 4:00 to 4:15

Cancelation & Refund Policy

Cancellations processed at least two week (14 days) before camp begins receive
a 50% refund less a $25 processing fee. No refunds are issued for cancellations
less than 13 days before the first day of the scheduled camp. The first
switch from one camp to another does not incur a fee. No refunds or pro-rating for missed days. Enrollment fees cannot be carried into subsequent terms.

If the minimum registration for a camp is not met, Throw & Build reserves the
right to cancel the program, and either move participants to another camp or
refund for full payment.

Camp Info & Policy

Drop Off & Pick Up Times

Morning Session – Drop off between 8:45 am to 9 am/Pick up between 12 pm to 12:15pm.

Afternoon Session – Drop off 12:45pm to 1pm/Pick up between 4 pm – 4:15 pm.

Is lunch provided at the camp?

Lunch, snacks and drinks are not provided. Please pack a lunch that does not require refrigeration.

Camp Forms

Please be sure to fill out these forms completely and bring them to the first day of camp. The three forms are included in one document: Emergency Information form, a General Release form, and an Ice Cream Party permission slip.

What to Wear.

Clay camp participants should wear clothes that can get messy and closed-toe shoes (sneakers or Crocs are great; no flip-flops or sandals).

How long does camp last?

Camps meet for five consecutive days, for three hours each day. Except for 4th of July week.

Completed Projects Pickup

Your student is encouraged to create several projects throughout the week.

Our staff clear-glazes, fires, sorts, and bags the artwork.

Completed projects are ready for pick up approximately 2 to 4 weeks after the camp ends. You will be notified by email when the work is ready to be picked up.

Please note: due to the nature of clay, We cannot be responsible for any damage to work caused by construction or the firing or glazing processes.
