Studio Assistant
Work with us as a Studio Assistant! If you’re passionate about pottery, eager to learn, and adaptable, we’d love to have you. You’ll engage with our studio members and class students, offering help and sparking conversations. We value resourcefulness, curiosity, warmth, and a welcoming attitude. Good communication, positive attitude, candor, empathy, and a drive to continuously improve are key.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer and teach studio students and members on throwing and/or hand building their pottery
- Mix and replenish clay
- Mix and replenish glaze, slips, and washes
- Load and unload kilns
- Unload clay deliveries, keep stock organized
- Inform Studio Managers of any issues or concerns in a timely manner
- Clean facilities thoroughly
- Support and be helpful to other staff members
- Perform other projects as assigned by Studio Managers
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and determine priorities when multiple tasks must be completed
- Ability to remain on task and not allow oneself to be distracted by the active studio environment
- Experience with kiln loading, glaze mixing, clay reclaiming
- Experience with ceramic fabrication (mold-making, glazing, are a plus)Strong interest to work in the field of ceramics
- Ability to repeatedly lift 50lbs without assistance
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, instructors, members, and the public and act as an ambassador to the studio

Pottery Instructor
Do you like teaching and have a passion for pottery? We're looking for Instructors who are helpful, intuitive, insightful, and patient to join our team! You'll introduce students to the world of ceramics, covering everything they need to know at each stage. In beginner classes, you'll focus on essential skills and getting students comfortable with clay. As they move to intermediate and advanced levels, you'll help them refine their techniques and take on more challenging projects. Your support will help them grow their skills and explore their creative potential.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide quality instruction that leaves students with a solid foundation for understanding the ceramic process.
- Adhere to class schedule, punctuality is critical so that class begins and ends on time.
- Uphold studio cleaning procedures with you students.
- Provide essential information on studio equipment.
- Report any issues with management in a timely and constructive manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in art, or relative experience working in ceramics
Previous teaching experience is helpful, but not required. We will provide training and support to develop a great class experience together.
Have the ability in the following:
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding and honed craft for working with clay.
- Present clear instruction to students and adjust to accommodate learning styles.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff
- Keep students on track throughout the class
- Gauge student interest and adjust to address special topics.
- Manage student expectations and help identify realistic goals.
